Pizza Express - Foundation Stage - 26 April 2018

On Thursday 26th April, Foundation Stage children are visiting Pizza Express. One class will visit Pizza Express in the Hub and one class will visit Pizza Express in the Xscape.  Once at Pizza Express the children will have a chance to be pizza chefs, designing and making their own pizzas, whilst also learning about the importance of a balanced diet and where our food comes from. Each child will then bring their pizza back to school where they will eat them. The children will be back in time for their school lunch, if they have the room for it!

You are not obliged to make a contribution towards the visit and pupils will not be excluded through inability or unwillingness to pay. However, the visit can only go ahead if there are sufficient contributions to cover the cost of the coach. You are, therefore, invited to make a voluntary contribution to cover the cost of the coach which is £4 per child.  Please complete the slip at the end of this newsletter and include it with £4 in a named envelope by Wednesday 25th April. Thank you for your continued support.

To ensure the school complies fully with the policy approved by the governing body, and meets Insurance and Health and Safety regulations, the following rule applies: where paperwork is not received in advance of a school trip your child will not be allowed to participate.

Puzzle Challenge Days - 19th and 20th April

On the 19th and 20th of April, using the money that has been raised through collections after school events, we have organised a two day visit from ‘The Happy Puzzle Company’. Each child will take part in a Puzzle Challenge Day workshop. The children will encounter a variety of challenges, most of which will be solved in a few minutes, but which require collaborative learning skills with careful strategic planning in order to find a solution. If the temptation to give up starts to appear, the programme teaches students how to persevere, put their own skills to better use as part of a team and overcome difficulties by approaching problems from different perspectives. We feel that the children will thoroughly enjoy the experience and activities.

Sport Relief Day 23 March 2018

Sports Relief  and The Daily Mile

You might have spotted that on the playground we have had a coloured track installed. The track is an all year round activity that parents, pupils and staff can use to walk, jog or run a mile, every day. We will be using this during the school day but it is also open for you to use before and/or after school. We will be having a short break from the morning dance sessions so please use this time to get started on using the track. During Sport Relief week the children will be learning about how physical activity can impact on their lives and the lives of others.

On Friday 23rd March, all children may wear sports clothing such as team kits or clothing that represents a particular sport, for which we are asking of a £1 donation which will be sent to Sport Relief. Please ensure that their sports clothing is appropriate for work and play.

During Sport Relief week, all children will have the opportunity to walk or run the mile with their class.

We are looking forward to using the Daily Mile track to improve our fitness and wellbeing.
