Year 3 Spanish Day

Hola! What a wonderful day Year 3 have had for their Spanish Day. It's been packed full of Spanish facts, including numbers and colours, singing Spanish songs, bingo, and a paella cooking demonstration and enjoying a delicious paella dish. A lot of fun has been had by all. The classrooms looked brilliant, filled with the children in their Spanish-inspired clothing, especially the flamenco dresses!

Around the World in Year 3

Year 3 were busy bakers this week!  As part of their 'Around the World' topic, they have baked some South American biscuits, called Alfajores. Typically, the filling of two sweet biscuits is dulce de leche, a filling which proved very popular. The children mixed, whisked, grated lemon zest and even separated their egg yolks from the egg whites- some fantastic skills and baking flair was on display! We hope they tasted just as good as they looked.

They also baked some delicious looking Mediterranean flatbread and Greek tzatziki. The smell in both the classrooms (for the tzatziki) and our food technology room (to bake the flatbread) was delicious!
