School Uniform

We believe that wearing a school uniform gives pupils a sense of identity and belonging. It also helps to show that children are representing the school and gives a smart look across the school.

We do, however, also appreciate that school uniform can be very expensive and, as such, seek to provide reasonably priced alternatives wherever possible.

Uniform

At Tickford Park Primary School, our main uniform colour is green.

Our uniform consists of the following options:

  • Bottle green (or white) polo shirt with or without school logo.
  • Bottle green sweatshirt or cardigan – with or without school logo.
  • Grey or black school trousers, shorts or skirts.
  • Girls' pinafore dress in grey or black.
  • Girls summer dress – green gingham.

These items should be worn with plain black flat shoes. You can wear socks in any colour!

Year 6 – ‘Burgundies’

When children move into Year 6, their uniform changes slightly. These children wear burgundy tops and polo shirts instead of green ones. This represents the responsibilities and privileges of being one of the oldest children in the school.

Head Coverings

In general, hats and head coverings should not be worn inside the school unless this is for religious, cultural or medical reasons.

Children are, of course, permitted to bring hats to wear on the playground; indeed, this is particularly advisable in both cold and particularly sunny weather.

Tickford Park hats are available but by no means compulsory.

PE Kit

On P.E. days, children should wear their P.E. kit to school and will keep it on for the full day.

P.E. Kit at Tickford Park consists of:

Green or white t-shirt

Dark coloured shorts or jogging bottoms

Dark coloured sweatshirt or hoodie

Comfortable trainers

Your child’s class teacher will tell you on which days the class will have P.E. at the start of each term.

Please mark all items of clothing and footwear with your child's name. If you wish to, you can purchase name labels at www.stikins.co.uk.

Jewellery

Children with pierced ears may wear studs. For safety reasons, we do not allow dangly earrings – this includes on non-school uniform or dressing-up days.

Parents can remove studs on PE days. If they are unable to do so, they should cover the earrings with micropore tape before school. The amount of tape used needs to be sufficient to prevent the piercing penetrating, for example, the bone behind the ear should an unintentional blow be received from someone or some item of equipment, such as a ball.

Watches can also be worn in school, including fitness trackers.

Religious artefacts may also be worn but may need to be removed for P.E. lessons.

For safety reasons no other jewellery is permitted.

Purchasing School Uniform

Many items of school uniform can be purchased for reasonable prices in supermarkets (for example, the Asda Supercentre in MK has a dedicated school uniform section) or other clothing stores.

Supplier

At Tickford Park, we work with two main uniform providers. These are: yourschooluniform.com and Maisies Superstore.

We do quite often have second hand uniform in school so if you are struggling to kit your child out, please do get in touch and we may be able to help.

If your child is eligible for Pupil Premium, we are able to support you with purchasing their school uniform. Please get in touch with the headteacher, Mr Chelariu-Smith. The best way to do this is via Class Dojo.
